There are several ways to get connected to the Internet.
If you arrived with your own PC (laptop) you can connect to the Internet using dial up method. In order to use this service you don’t need to award a contract. There are several ways to get access to the Internet using dial-up connections:
Internet card
Most of Internet providers sell Internet cards offering passport and identification number for a definite period of time. The card reverse side contains information (in Russian) about the settings of your computer needed to get access to the Internet.
Passport-less access “Beltelecom”
Belarusian State Company “Beltelecom” provides the service of passport-less access (pay as you go) to the Internet using dial-up connection. The cost of the Internet usage is then included into a telephone bill of a telephone line holder. In order to get connected from your computer dial the number 8w600100 (“w” stands for 'wait for dial tone') using any user name and passport.
Wireless connection Wi-Fi
Nowadays’ Belarus continues to develop its services to provide wireless access to the Internet. One can use this service at multiple places either in Belarusian capital or other inhabited localities.
There is also a network of internet-cafes in Belarus where visitors can use Internet communication. There exist state-owned (“Beltelecom”) and private internet-cafes. Besides internet access they usually offer printing services, scanning, CD recording etc.
