The Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry was founded in 1959 and is a legal successor to The Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences, established on December 18, 1929. The Institute holds strong positions among world leaders in the field of chemistry of materials for water and air-gas media separation, physicochemical processes with these materials, chemistry of amino acids and their derivatives, fine organic synthesis. Nowadays the Institute specializes in fundamental research in the field of chemistry of special-purpose polymers, physical chemistry of catalytic and extraction processes, organic synthesis of functionally replaced aliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic compounds.
