Coat of arms: is a golden black eagle looking towards the viewer's left dexter. The eagle is the Eagle of Saladin associated with 20th-century pan-Arabism, bearing a shield of the Iraqi flag, and holding a scroll below with the Arabic words جمهورية العراق (Jumhuriyat Al-`Iraq or «Republic of Iraq»).
Flag: includes the three equal horizontal red, white, and black stripes of the Arab Liberation flag. This basic tricolor has been in use since its adoption on 31 July 1963, with several changes to the green symbols in the central white stripes; the most recent version adopted on 22 January 2008 bears the takbīr rendered in dark green.
 
  • Anthem: «Mawtini» is the national anthem of Iraq.
  • Official languages: Arabic, Kurdish.
  • Geographical location: it is a country in Western Asia, bordered by Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, Kuwait to the southeast, Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the southwest and Syria to the west.
  • Administrative divisions: Iraq is composed of nineteen governorates (or provinces). The governorates are subdivided into districts, which are further divided into sub-districts. Iraqi Kurdistan is the only legally defined region within Iraq, with its own government and quasi-official army Peshmerga.
  • Capital: Baghdad.
  • Governance: the federal government of Iraq is defined under the current Constitution as a democratic, federal parliamentary republic. The federal government is composed of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, as well as numerous independent commissions. Aside from the federal government, there are regions (made of one or more governorates), governorates, and districts within Iraq with jurisdiction over various matters as defined by law.

Trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Iraq

The current situation in Iraq remains tense. Fall in world oil prices has an adverse impact on the social and economic situation in the country, because oil is the main export product.

Iraq mainly imports the following products:

  • Electrical machines and apparatus, parts thereof;
  • Sound recording and reproducing apparatus;
  • TV image and sound recording and reproducing apparatus; their parts and accessories;
  • Vehicles, except railway or tramway rolling stock, and their parts and accessories;
  • Articles of iron or steel, plastics and articles thereof;
  • Pharmaceutical products;
  • Ferrous metals;
  • Furniture;
  • Furnishing articles, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions, pouffes and pillows;
  • Lamps and light fittings, not elsewhere specified or included;
  • Illuminated signs, name plates and the like;
  • Prefabricated buildings;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted;

Since January 2016, the Iraqi Airways has performed regular weekly flights Baghdad-Minsk and Basra-Minsk, that has increased a number of the Iraqi citizens, visiting Belarus on business. Taking into account that the country's economy is a resource based one, all Iraqi businessmen, visiting Belarus, may be potential importers of Belarusian products.

Belarus's most promising products to export to Iraq:

Machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof:

  • Refrigerators, freezers and other refrigerating or freezing equipment, electric or other;
  • Pumps for liquids, whether or not fitted with measuring device;
  • Liquid elevators: for civil aviation and hydraulic units;
  • Pressure-reducing valves;
  • Taps, cocks, valves for sinks, basins, bidets, water reservoirs, tanks and similar appliances;
  • Filtering or purifying machinery and apparatus for liquids;
  • Air or vacuum pumps, air or other gas compressors and fans; ventilating or recycling hoods incorporating a fan whether or not fitted with filters;
  • Electrical machines and apparatus, parts thereof;
  • Sound recording and reproducing apparatus; TV image and sound recording and reproducing apparatus; their parts and accessories: Insulated wire, cable and other electric conductors, connector fitted or not;
  • Optical fibre cables of individually sheathed fibres, whether or not assembled with electric conductors or fitted with connectors.

Vehicles, except railway or tramway rolling stock, and their parts and accessories:

  • Motor vehicles to transport goods;
  • Parts and accessories of motor vehicles to assemble tractors;
  • Motor vehicles designed to transport 10 or more persons, including driver.

Articles of iron or steel:

  • Structures of iron or steel;
  • Plates, rods, angles, shapes, sections, tubes and the like, of ferrous metals prepared for use in structures.

Plastics and articles thereof:

  • Tubes, pipes;
  • Hoses and fittings thereof (for example, joints, elbows, flanges), of plastics;
  • Plastic articles designed to transport or pack goods;
  • Stoppers, lids, caps and other closures of plastics.

Pharmaceutical products:

  • Medicaments, consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic use, put up in measured doses or packed for retail sale;
  • Antisera, other blood fractions, immunological products, modified or obtained by biotechnological processes;
  • Vaccines for human medicine;
  • Vaccines for veterinary medicine.

Ferrous metals:

  • Rods of iron or non-alloy steel, not further worked than forged, hot-rolled, hot drawn or hot-extruded, but including those twisted after rolling;
  • Flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel of a width of 600 mm or more, hot-rolled, not clad, plated or coated.

Dairy products:

  • Cheese and curd;
  • Milk and cream, not concentrated, not containing added sugar or other sweetening matter;
  • Butter and other fats and oils derived from milk;
  • Dairy spreads;
  • Buttermilk, curdled milk and cream, yogurt, kephir, fermented or acidified milk and cream, whether or not concentrated, containing added sugar or other sweetening matter, flavoured or added fruits, nuts or cocoa.

Meat and edible meat offal:

  • Meat and edible offal of poultry, chilled or frozen;
  • Meat of bovine animals, frozen;
  • Meat and edible meat offal; salted, in brine, dried or smoked;
  • Edible flours and meals of meat or meat offal.

Sensitive instruments and appliances used for measuring or checking in optics, photography, cinematography, medical or surgical sciences; their parts and accessories:

  • Instruments and appliances used in medical, surgical, dental or veterinary sciences, including scintigraphic apparatus, other electro-medical apparatus and sight testing instruments;
  • Surveying (including photogrammetrical surveying), hydrographic, oceanographic, hydrological, meteorological or geophysical instruments and appliances, excluding compasses, rangefinders;
  • Instruments, apparatus for measuring or checking the flow, level, pressure of liquids, gases (for example, flow meters, level indicators, pressure gauges, heat meters).
  • Instruments and apparatus for physical or chemical analysis (for example, polarimeters, refractometers, spectrometers, gas and smoke testers);
  • Instruments and apparatus for measuring or checking viscosity, porosity, expansion, surface tension or the like;

Mineral fuel, oil and distillates:

  • Light oils and preparations;
  • Peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerated.

Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes;

Sugars and sugar confectionery;

Wood and articles thereof:

  • Plywood, veneered panels and similar laminated wood;
  • Fibreboard of wood or other ligneous materials, whether or not bonded with resins or other organic substances; Wood sawn or chipped lengthwise, sliced or peeled, whether or not planed, sanded or end-jointed, of a thickness exceeding 6mm.

Rubber and articles thereof:

  • New pneumatic tyres;
  • Articles of vulcanized rubber other than hard rubber.

Furniture;

Furnishing articles, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions, pouffes and pillows;

Lamps and light fittings, not elsewhere specified or included;

Illuminated signs, name plates and the like.
