

Coat of arms: shows the national shrine Pha That Luang. A dam is pictured which as a symbol of power generation at the reservoir Nam Ngum, an asphalt street is also pictured, as well as a stylized watered field.
In the lower part is a section of a gear wheel. The inscription on the left reads «Peace, Independence, Democracy» and on the right, «Unity and Prosperity».
Flag: consists of three horizontal stripes, with the middle stripe in blue being twice the height of the top and bottom red stripes. In the middle is a white disc, the diameter of the disc is 4⁄5 the height of the blue stripe. The flag ratio is 2:3.
The current flag was adopted on December 2, 1975 when it became a socialist state.
- Anthem: «Pheng Sat Lāo» is the national anthem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Dr. Thongdy Sounthonevichit composed the music and wrote the lyrics in 1941. This was adopted as the national anthem of the Kingdom of Laos in 1945.
- Official languages: Lao.
- Geographical location: it is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia at the heart of the Indochinese peninsula, bordered by Myanmar (Burma) and China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southwest, and Thailand to the west and southwest.
- Administrative divisions: Laos is divided into 17 provinces (khoueng) and one prefecture (kampheng nakhon) which includes the capital city Vientiane (Nakhon Louang Viangchan). Provinces are further divided into districts (muang) and then villages (ban). An urban village is essentially a town
- Capital: Vientiane.
- Governance: the politics takes place in the framework of a one-party socialist republic. The only legal political party is the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP). The de jure head of state is President, who also is LPRP general secretary making him the de facto leader of Laos. The head of government is Prime Minister. Government policies are determined by the party through the all-powerful nine-member Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the 49-member Central Committee. Important government decisions are vetted by the Council of Ministers.

In January — April 2018, trade turnover between the countries increased in 23 times to $63.9 thousand as compared to the same period of 2017. Belarusian exports increased in 3.4 times to $51.1 thousand. Trade surplus was $38.3 million.
In January — April 2018, Belarusian goods of 2 commodity headings were supplied to Laos (goods were not supplied within the same period of 2017).
