Belarus' agricultural export to China 1.5 times up in H1 2021

MINSK – In January-June 2021 the export of Belarusian agricultural products to China increased by 1.5 times in comparison with H1 2020 and reached $156 million. The figures were mentioned as Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Yuri Senko, the ministry's press service told BelTA.

Representatives of oblast administrations and organizations took part in the videoconference meeting as well. Matters concerning the increase in the export of agricultural products to China were discussed as well as new mechanisms for promoting Belarusian products onto the Chinese market, in particular, the organization of the delivery of Belarusian goods using digital platforms.

China is traditionally one of the main directions for increasing the export of Belarusian food. In 2020 the export of Belarusian agricultural goods to China increased by 1.9 times in comparison with 2019 to $255.2 million. Export rose by 13 times in comparison with 2015. The export of poultry meat, dairy products, soya bean oil, colza oil, beef, chocolate and confectionery products increased considerably. Belarusian companies have started shipping sugar, starch, potato chips, and ready-to-eat fish to China.

In H1 2021 China was the second largest importer of Belarusian food after Russia.
