Belarus decriminalizes certain economic offences to promote business development

MINSK - A new portion of amendments to Belarus’ legal codes became effective on July 19. As a result, some economic offenses have been decriminalized, in some cases criminal responsibility will be replaced with an administrative fine.

Moreover, Belarus will raise the ceiling on the financial damage associated with certain economic offences, so that they classify as criminal offenses.

The maximum prison term for economic violations classified as criminal offenses has been reduced from 3 to 2 years.
