MINSK - Belarusbank and China Union Pay are looking into the possibility of issuing cards of the Chinese payment system in Belarus, Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian bank Svetlana Kozhekina said during Financial Institutions Day conference that was held by the bank on May 14.
“Today we are discussing the issuance of China Union Pay cards, and we will explore the possibility of doing a co-badging project with the participation of Belkart and China Union Pay. We will look into the possibility of an inter-system integration of two payment systems”, Kozhekina said.
Belarusbank was founded in July 1991 and merged with Belarus’ Sberbank in October 1995. The state holds a 99.95% share in the bank’s statutory capital.
