Belarusian Metal Plant’s exports up 35.5% to $941m in Jan-Sep 2018

MINSK – The Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) increased exports by 35.5% year on year in Jan-Sep 2018 to $941 million, a BMZ official told PrimePress.

All in all, the company exported more than 1.5 million tonnes of metal products in Jan-Sep 2018, up 9.2% yr on yr.

BMZ proceeds from exports and domestic sales grew by more than 30% to $1.136 billion.

BMZ product shipments (to domestic and overseas customers) grew 8.1% year on year in Jan-Sep 2018 to 1.738 million tonnes.

The company’s rolled steel shipments grew by 7.1% year on year in Jan-Sep 2018 to 1.112 million tonnes; steel pipes – up 15.8% to 113,318 tonnes, shipment of hardware products remained unchanged year on year at 311,224 tonnes.

The company’s steel output grew by 6.6% year on year in Jan-Sep 2018 to 1.801 million tonnes.

Rolled steel output reduced 0.7% to 1.57 million tonnes, pipes – 112,356 tonnes (up 11.8%).

Hardware output grew by 0.3% year on year in Jan-Sep 2018 to 311,891 tonnes, including metal cord – 67,594 tonnes (down 5.1%), bead wire – 22,573 tonnes (down 28.3%), brass-coated steel wire for high-pressure sleeves – up 7.2% to 28,421 tonnes, steel wire – up 6.4% to 193,303 tonnes.

State-owned company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output.
