MINSK - Ukraine’s Zaporizhia Automobile Plant (ZAZ, part of UkrAVTO Corporation), plans to launch assembly production of MAZ trucks in the framework of a joint project with Belarus’ Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ).
The parties are currently negotiating the first stage of the project – assembly production using imported SKD kits, said UkrAVTO Press Secretary Dmytro Skliarenko.
At the same time, ZAZ plans to increase the share of local content in MAZ trucks assembled in Ukraine, which will open new markets for Belarusian trucks.
MAZ, the country’s largest OAO, is fully owned by the Belarusian government. The enterprise produces all-wheel drive trucks, log trucks, dump trucks, cranes on truck chassis, trailers and semitrailers, custom-made vehicles, around 15 kinds of passenger buses.
